Claymakers Expo, Sydney

Well Covid19 may have slowed us down in 2020 - but things are finally getting back to a new normal and we have been advised that we can now go ahead with the Inaugural Claymaker's Expo on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th May at the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability in Waverton, Sydney.

The expo has been carefully coordinated to work in conjunction with the popular, quarterly Coal Loader Artisans Market, but will be held in the atmospheric, renovated coal loading tunnels below the Centre known as Tunnel 1. We are open from 9am to 3pm daily.

We have been really lucky for our inaugural expo to be joined by some of Australia's leading potters - a list of them including information about their pottery and experience are provided on the following pages at Upcoming Exhibitors – Living Clay Australia.

Melbourne have been pulling together an event like this for over 20 years on the banks of the Yarra River at Warrandyte, and it has now become a much anticipated and established part of the annual Arts Calendar in Victoria, with over 60 participating potters. I am afraid we are a little behind the Victorians on this idea but really hoping to do the same in Sydney - this is the start! To do that we do need the support and encouragement of the buying public.

All participating potters are making and creating in Australia - many of them have their own studios. So apart from supporting the potters themselves we are building on the lessons we all learnt through this horrible pandemic to "Buy Australian". We have some stunning, very talented and highly skilled potters and ceramicists in this country, this is your chance to see and buy their work and "meet the makers" all in one place.

Over 100 other craft stallholders will be participating on the Coal Loader Platform and in the Centre itself. So it will be a great day.
