Yegana is from Azerbaijan, but now currently lives in Sydney. Although originally trained as an environmental scientist she has been creating ceramics for the past 13 years, in the past 5 years, she has been working full time in ceramics both teaching and making in her studio in Crows Nest.
Yegana has developed a series of functional, wheel thrown, porcelain objects that are adjusted after trimming. When making these amendments, the plasticity, smoothness, and ability to create graceful folds in the porcelain reminds her of the traditional silk scarves created in Azerbaijan.
Her work features delicate transparent windows and textural surface patterns that are influenced by the cultural designs from childhood and her love of nature, flowers and sea life.
